FracSIS

FracSIS is a spatial database and 3D visualisation package for exploration and mining. It combines a powerful object-oriented database specifically designed to store geological, geochemical and geophysical data with an interactive 3D visualisation environment. The benefits of FracSIS' data integration can be seen across an entire organisation, from management to geologists to clients.

As it stores both geological and non-geological files (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PDF documents), FracSIS databases are the perfect vehicle for project management, collaboration, and data distribution.

Tools and Features

FracSIS includes many useful tools and features to enhance data interpretation and visualisation, including:

  • CAD drawing tools
  • animation creation and movie export
  • attribute editing
  • block model visualisation
  • web export
  • document storage
  • multiple coordinate system support
  • drill hole designer (PDF)
  • data export to MapInfo, GXF, DXF and ASCII formats
  • analytical tools: dip & azimuth, distance
  • image draping
  • colour or size mapping from attributes
  • cutting planes at any orientation
  • saving and loading colour legends
  • label and text annotation tools

Coordinate Systems

FracSIS includes a comprehensive global coordinate system knowledge base with over 25 coordinate projections. You can even create your own coordinate systems for local grids. This allows users to assign relevant coordinate system information to their datasets. The advantage of tagging objects with a coordinate system means that data stored in disparate coordinate systems may be viewed in a common coordinate system or reprojected on the fly into an entirely new coordinate system — without duplicating and transforming data.

Interactive Editing

Data and interpretations are always changing. Ensuring data is up to date and accurate across multiple applications is a constant challenge. With the new interactive editing feature, you can edit any object regardless of the application in which it originated. Changes are made in the centralised database, ensuring everyone on the team has access to the latest data.

Editions

FracSIS comes in three editions:
